The Origin
How Snudo Was Born
It started with two sisters — one eleven, one six— who had played Ludo and Snakes & Ladders so many times they could do it in their sleep. But one day, instead of playing, they sat back and wondered.
"What if snakes and ladders came into the Ludo board?" Would a snake bite a token mid-journey? Could a ladder fling a token closer to home? The thought made them giggle. That sounded very interesting.
But then — as curious minds do — they pushed further. "What if it's not that simple? What if snakes can be good, and ladders can be bad?" A ladder that launches you ahead could just as easily drag you back to where you started. A sneaky staircase. A menacing one at that. 😏
And the snakes? They didn't just want them to bite. The younger sister had a bigger idea: "What if you could ride them?!" From head to tail — like a roller coaster! A snake ride could hurl you backwards… or whip you forward, closer to home. Snakes that actually help you. Now that was cool.
So they grabbed paper, pencils, colors and whatever was lying around — and built it. A hand-drawn board where nothing was what it seemed. Where every snake was a mystery ride and every ladder a double-edged gamble. Where the rules were theirs.
That homemade board became Snudo. 🎲
